I just read this article on MSN that says Bank Of America is going to start charging fees when you use their card. What kind of crap is that? Here is part of the article:

Soon, it's going to cost more money to spend money.

Bank of America will begin charging debit card customers a $5 monthly fee for using their plastic to make purchases starting next year, according to spokeswoman Anne Pace. The move follows tests by other major banks, including Wells Fargo and J.P. Morgan Chase, to tack monthly fees onto debit cards.

The changes will only add to confusion for consumers who try to get the best deal -- or at least, pay the lowest fees -- when pulling plastic out of their wallets at checkout counters.

Banks are making the change because revenue from lucrative interchange fees paid by merchants -- so-called swipe fees -- is drying up. The Federal Reserve Board issued rules in June that essentially cut swipe fees in half, from an average of 44 cents to 24 cents per transaction. The new rule takes effect Oct. 1, and Bank of America has said it will lose $2 billion annually because of the change.

Almost three years ago when my husband and I got married, we opened up a "checking account" at our financial institution. The question I have is if this really is a checking account since we were given "debit credit cards" for this "checking" account.

Since we are in our 40's, we are more familiar with writing checks and writing down our cash withdrawals in a check register in order to not have overdraft fees or insufficient funds charges. But, how many people are writing checks anymore since we are given debit credit cards which are more acceptable than checks. There are several establishments that won't even take checks anymore since they aren't sure if the check will bounce when they know that when a debit card is swiped, they have access to that money instantly.

Since debit cards are used, it is best that we educate ourselves on the use of debit cards.

A debit card "looks" like a credit card - the bad thing about this is most people have the mindset of credit card when they use this card. Do You Know If You Have To Repay Your IRS Homebuyer Tax Credit?

For those of you who purchased a home in 2008 and was excited about getting the $8,000 homebuyers's tax credit, well the party is over. It is time to payback.

You should have gotten notification in the mail from IRS by now. Of course the housing market was in deep trouble at that time so the homebuyer tax credit was given as a way to stimulate the economy. Hopefully, the individuals who received the credit was aware of the fact that they were going to have to pay it back.

Just in case you haven't heard, here are the repayment rules:

Repayment rules for first version
Buyers who claimed the 2008 version of the credit generally must repay the credit in equal installments in the next 15 years, starting with their 2010 tax return.

If you bought a home under the second homebuyer tax credit in 2009 or 2010, here are the repayment rules:

Repayment rules for second and third versions
If you claimed a credit for a 2009 or 2010 purchase, the 15-year repayment rule doesn't apply. But if you sell the home or stop using it as your principal residence this year, you generally must repay the full credit or your gain on sale, whichever is smaller. If you have a loss, you don't have to repay the credit. Gain on sale is calculated the same way as in the first version.

Of course there is always exceptions to any rule - here's an example of one:

Here's the exception for the 2008 tax credit repayment:

Exceptions: If you or your spouse is in the military and had to sell because of an order to relocate for extended duty, you don't have to repay the credit. If you transfer the home to your former spouse as part of a divorce settlement, the credit-repayment obligation becomes your ex's problem. Finally, neither people who die nor their heirs have to repay the credit.

Here's the exception for the 2009 and 2010 tax credit repayment:

Exceptions: For post-2008 purchases, the credit-repayment obligation disappears after you've owned and used the home as your principal residence for more than three years. In addition, the credit-repayment exceptions in the first version of the credit also apply to the second and third versions.

In conclusion, this is what you or your tax preparer has to do when filing your taxes if this repayment of homebuyer tax credit applies to you:

Just fill out parts III and IV of the 2010 version of Internal Revenue Service Form 5405, the First-Time Homebuyer Credit and Repayment of the Credit form. Add the credit-repayment amount to your tax bill on the appropriate line of your 1040 form.

But here is something that I found out lately, there are some online merchants who offer OTO (one time offers) that end up being reoccurring monthly, 3 months, 6 months or yearly payment subscriptions. (Now how in the ham phat did they come up with that sneaky trick.)

Thankfully, PayPal is making improvements on the use of its services. So, if you have a PayPal account, in order to determine if you have any OTO (one time offers) that are setup as reoccurring payments or subscriptions, you can do the steps listed here to check. Once you find out and you decide that you really don't want it, you can cancel a subscription or recurring payment if you don't want to continue having the subscription.

Here’s how to cancel a subscription or recurring payment:

1. Log in to your PayPal account.
2. Click ‘Profile.’
3. Click ‘My preapproved payments’ under ‘Financial Information.’
(Don’t see this step? Follow the instructions below.)
4. Select the merchant whose agreement you want to cancel and click
‘Cancel.’

Low Income Taxpayers Can Get A Debit Card

Initially when the Track It! Slips were designed, it was because my husband and I were given debit cards when we opened up our checking account. This sounded like a great idea until he was swipe his card and I would swipe my card but at the end of the day, we didn't know what transaction went with what swipe or what card. Since we are apart of the baby boomer generation, we were used to the check book and check register concept so creating the Track It! Slips was the perfect solution.

The reason I'm writing this article is because I read today that the IRS has a pilot program where they will be giving 10,000 low income taxpayers debit cards so that they can have their return income placed on the card. They said that a lot of the low income taxpayers don't have checking accounts and they would like to cut back on the amount of checks they send out. They also observed that this is the way of the future since millions of individuals are already using debit cards.

Because of the problem my husband and I had when we got our debit card, I would like to help others to not have to experience the same problems. Since most of the low income taxpayers probably haven't used a check book and check register to track their transactions, they may not realize how much money they may end up paying in fees if they don't use the card right.

So, if you are someone who is new to using debit cards and would like to have a tracking system to use when you swipe your debit card, I'm going to suggest that you try using the Track It! Slips.

1. When you get your deposit to your debit card, write down the amount of that deposit on the slip.

2. When you make purchases, write down the date, place, product and amount of purchase.

3. Subtract the amount of the purchases from the balance so that you will know how much money is left on your card for your next purchase.

4. Make sure to write on the back of the slip payments that you need to make to your cell phone company, rent, credit card company, etc. so that you can keep up with those payments to avoid paying them late.

5. At the end of the day, go online and make sure that what you wrote down when you swiped your card are the only transactions on your account. If you see any drafts that you did not make, contact the bank immediately.

In the words of our President Obama "Yes You Can"! I would like to reveal to you what I found to be the least expensive way an affiliate marketer can get an avalance of traffic to their website while budget planning.

This is the beginning of a new year, therefore, evaluations are taking place by business owners to determine what worked in 2010 and what did not work in 2010. When I decided to do online marketing in 2010 for my existing business Create A Prayer Pillow, I found out that there are several things needed and necessary for online marketing.

The number one thing you need of course is a website that clearly describes your product or service while branding yourself. The reason you want to brand yourself is because the internet is such a huge and vast platform. Because of this, potential clients need to know that they are going to be interacting with a real person that they can know, like and trust when spending their hard earned cash.

The second thing you need is traffic. Simply put, traffic is prospects to visit your website. Since the internet is so huge, you can't just think that because you have a website, everybody is going to come flocking to it. It is no different than if you opened up brick and mortar storefront - if you do not advertise, you will not have foot traffic in your store.

The third thing you need is freebies or some type of discount. I know that this is something that makes me prefer to buy from one business over another business. This is done offline by offering coupons, rebates, bogo (buy one, get one half off or free), etc. This same concept can be done online by offering free products or services such as ebooks, webinars, etc.

The New Debit Card Bank Fees For 2011

For those of you who know that the reason the Track I! Slips came into existence is because of the fact that my husband and I were handed debit cards to our bank account when we got married. Of course, we had no idea of how huge this concept was going to be. Now that the banks has transitioned most people over to using the debit cards, they are now going to give everybody the one two punch.

I call the one two punch the punch that you weren't expecting. In an attempt to generate more revenue from customers, thy are feverishly devising new ways to raise fees on debit cards, cash machines and checking accounts for 2011 and years to come.

There were a lot of regulations imposed on financial institutions over the last year and because of it, credit card users have gotten charged foreign exchange charges and inactivity fees charges - say what? yes inactivity fees - what has this world come to?

For those who have checking accounts, they have gotten hit with new monthly maintenance fees. What is it that they are maintaining - my money that they are using to make more money with - go figure.

Now here's the big whammy - to counter the revenue that was lost, banks are thinking about imposing $25 to $30 annual fees on debit cards. Some banks are also considering limiting the number of debit card transactions that a customer can make each month. They even want to limit the size of purchase someone can make using a debit card.

These fees are definitely on the table - it is just a matter of what quarter they are going to roll them out in.

I have decided to be very elementary with this post on today. Yesterday, I talked about what is affiliate marketing. I want you to know that the affiliate marketing concepts that I will present to you will be at no cost or low cost to coincide with your budget planning you have come up with for your online or offline business.

DAY 1

The first thing you want to do is decide on a business name. For some of you, you may think that the way I come up with a business name is wierd but oh well, here it is. I get up during the earliest part of the morning and pray and ask God for a business name and guess what, each time He gives me a name. The great part about this is not only does He give me the name but the name is also available to use when I check to see if it is available! Now you may have a different way to decide on a business name and that's fine - whatever works.

After you decide on a business name, you need to go see if that name is available to use. The number one place that everybody goes to do this is at GoDaddy. Once you see that it is available to use, you can then purchase that name. Your business name will then be referred to as your domain name or your website name. For example: the name that I am using for my domain name and my website is trackitslips.

After you have purchased your domain name, you can then use it as your website name for the business you have started. Keep in mind that on yesterday I gave you instructions on how to create a webpage using InstantSplash. You can then have prospect customers who have opted into your mailing list via your InstantSplash webpage to be sent to your website to explore your business in details. As you tap into your inheritance that is due because of being in covenant with God, you can expect your abundant fiancial harvest to come. Have you sown seeds? If so, you can rest assured that what you sow, you will reap.

Let's think about this for a minute. God wants us to acknowledge Him as our source. He is our strength and He gives us the wisdom we need to get the wealth that He has already predestined for us to have. As long as you keep things in perspective and not think that it is of your own strength and your own wisdom, then you will begin to experience your financial breakthrough.

You also need to know that God is blessing you to be a blessing. He is not going to increase you if you are selfish or stingy. You have to be about God's business, be mindful of other's struggles and be a blessing to the kingdom. If this is not your attitude, then you harvest will leave you so fast until you won't be able to figure out what happened.

In conclusion, as you begin to see your financial harvest come to fruition, you are to acknowlege God first by bringing your first fruit to your local church. Have you heard the conversations lately? They are all centered around money - either people don't have enough money, they want to earn more money or somebody has stolen money again.

As a christian, we are to walk in faith, trust and obedience to God's Word. The problem is many people don't refer to the Word of God to get instructions on knowing what to do to earn enough money, operate in overflow with their money and operate in integrity with their money.

I have a practice of reading a chapter a day from Proverbs since there are 31 chapters and 31 days in a month. Then I read a chapter a day from Psalms in line with the 31 days of the month as well. Since Psalms have 150 chapters, you can read up to 4 different sets of chapters. For example, in January you will read chapters 1- 31, in February you will read chapters 32-60, in March chapters 61-92 and in April chapters 93-124.

The reason I read these 2 Books of the Bible is because Proverbs has scriptures that teach you the wisdom of God and then Psalms has scriptures to teach you the heart of God.

Try reading these and see how supernaturally your worries will disappear instead you will walk in victory as you put God first in the area of finances.
